Modern Masters Metal Effects
Debra…. The project I am getting ready to do is using Metallic Paint (Baroque) and a liquid activator.  Never used these before…..Have you or do you know anyone that has and what application they used?

This is being applied to a vaulted ceiling, concerned about the activator running, it is thin like water.  Also the directions state to apply the activator while the metallic paint is wet.   I did this on a sample board and didn't get as much effect as I was expecting.  Appreciate any advise or suggestions..

Have a great day….Deborah

Here are some useful tips for Metal Effects

Hi Deborah…I have used this product many times… and the metallic paint should not be wet when applying the activator. You're results will have a much more dramatic effect if you use the activator on the dry metallic paint.

I have never applied it to a large section as a vaulted ceiling, but I know it can be done. You can apply the base coat metal paint with a roller.  But the activator must be applied in a less structured format. You have to apply it in a more drippy fashion.  This doesn't mean that you should have the solution run down onto your face, but it won't work as well if you dry brush it on.

My suggestion??? Get a sea sponge and wear a glove to apply it. This will give you a nice application and not be running down your arm.

I hope this is helpful, Debra

Thanks Debra for replying…the project is complete and went well….I did apply the activator on dry metallic paint as the instructions stated verses the information the store clerk recommended. The effect is awesome….used sea sponge and sea sponge mini roller to apply….mini roller worked fairly well, had to watch for runs since the activator is equal to water consistancy, but it is a cool look. Used this product in front foyer ceiling, arched recessed area above fireplace mantel and on the ceiling in master bedroom….I highly recommend this product. Do wear PROTECTIVE WEAR AND SAFETY GLASSES.
