It's Thursday evening… late.
Your pouring over all the latest designer magazines and you even have a few faux painting videos and books on hand.
The problem isn't lack of ideas.
The problem is that you want to decide on the best idea so you can get the supplies and start painting this weekend. Your in the mood and it's got to be now!
Would you love to have a decorator on call 24/7? Designers have all the answers, right?
According to some professional faux painters…the DIY homeowner wouldn't know good faux painting from bad art.
So how do you choose a perfect color for faux painting or find answers to at to where or how to accomplish a professional looking faux painting finish?
Log onto HGTV forums. Decorating advice awaits your every question.
You will need to learn to take photos of your design dilemma and post on the forum for the best advise.
Oh, and be ready for the comments. You can get up to 40 or 50 ideas for your project if it poses enough of a challenge for these gals (and guys) of the DIY space.
Some of the forums are for decorating, some for remodeling and you will find a ton of craft ideas and accomplishments as well.
- Learn about faux painting a laminate countertop.
- How-to use brown paper to faux leather a floor, counter or other decorative items.
- What color should you paint your dining room? Can you see the dining room from the LR? So then what color to choose for the LR? Now is it adjoining the kitchen? Now how do you choose complimentary colors. Will they go with your flooring and cabinets?
- Can you paint fabric to look like leather? You bet and tons of photos are available to prove it. And if you want to learn how to do it … well all the instructions are posted and if you have questions, you can email the artist and ask away ( or ask right on the forum so everyone can use the information).
- You have a gardening question that has come to mind at midnight. You can jump on the forum and ask away. You might have to wait until dawn to get an answer, but that sure beats trying to pick my way through every garden website online to see if your specific problem has ever been addressed.
- Are you into antiques, quilts, organizing or entertaining? Forums are available for you anytime. While I am writing this article I see a total of 556 visitors and members on line at the HGTV forum. Some days their are thousands at one time.
If you don't know how to post pictures… their are forum posts that give a variety of instructions for the computer newbie.
Give it a try… It's like making new friends that are all interesting in the same thing… Making a happy comfortable home.

my 13 year old daughter would like to have her bedroom painted the blue/brown design please help me pick the right blue/brown i don’t want to make any mistakes (the trim in her bedroom is white) also would it be right to paint only one wall the brown? she does have a big window with built in book cases (white) on each side of the window. should i paint the back of the cases brown also please HELP
