Last week – the challenge was Paint Related Projects

Since this week’s theme is “Paint,” you must have something that obviously uses paint in your project. Some examples of paint might be — DIY furniture projects, decorating projects that involve paint, different painting techniques such as glazing, crackling or distressing…”

These are a few of “My” favorite entries:

Painting Faux Granite Countertops

You knew I’d love this one!

This gal shows just “Exactly” how she painted faux granite on her laminate countertops.

Faux Granite Countertops

She used a “different” technique than I teach in the Faux Granite Video – but it still came out perfectly!

And… she gives you plenty of warnings of what NOT to do…

Home Office Makeover

“Using some birdy branch clipart as inspiration, I hand painted on the lower pane using some acrylic cream craft paint.”

Decorate Home Office

At first I thought this window “tattoo” was a cut out from that thin window film you use to block a view…

But this gal did it with paint. Talk about having a steady hand!

I just would NOT have the patience… so I would take the drawing and trace on window film  … and apply in sections. The effect would be the same.

Kitchen Makeover

What A Difference Paint Makes

Wait until you see this kitchen “re-do”. Amazing what a little paint, molding and tile will do for an outdated kitchen.

The gal who sent in this challenge entry even shared what paint she used and how she got the aged look with Brie Wax (one of my own favorite tricks).

“After the paint had cured (Dunn Edwards perma sheen brand prevents sticky cabinets) I hand applied a tinted wax finish (Brie wax) for a soft time-aged look – and buffed it with an orbital buffer (borrowed the one my husband uses to buff out his car!) to a hard protective finish. ”

Boy Bedroom Makeover With Just Paint

Boy Bedroom Makeover

Talk about budget makeover… you won’t believe this one!

If you have been wanting to paint plywood floors – this gal even included some do’s and don’ts  that she learned while painting this boy room floor.

I love the faux brick she painted on one wall.

One thing she didn’t mention – that I thought was pretty creative… she elevated the bed with cinder blocks to get more under the bed storage.

And… you will see that ceiling fans can be made over with just paint!

Chippy Paint Tutorial

Fireplace Mantle Makeover

I know you like the “old worn-out distressed” look and this gal tells you just how she did it on this fireplace mantle.

The before and after pictures are just amazing.

The tips for chippy painting that you get from this small how-to should give you lot’s of ideas to use in your own projects.

Master Bedroom Makeover

More Than A Mural

This master bedroom makeover has a ton of ideas for “regular” homeowners on a budget. This is NOT a makeover from a Designer magazine… it’s one you could actually accomplish.

The ideas are almost endless. The main focal point in the room is the mural… but this room is full of many other ideas.

Just the idea for the bedside reading lamps is worth taking a look… :0)

—-<*>—-

At the time I’m writing this article they have 125 entree’s for this paint challenge.

I have spent several hours going through most of them… so much fun!

Next week – The challenge is called Hardware Store… what could that be about????
