Terra Cotta Walls

Terra Cotta Painted Dining RoomThis reader sent in pictures of his terra cotta faux painted dining room and kitchen.

He was so happy with the results he just had to share.

"These are pictures taken of my dining room and kitchen areas.  I have not yet painted the cabinets or put in the baseboard, but will when time and money permit."

Very nice job… He says the color reminds him of the mountains nearby.

The bay window in his dining room is is now a true focal point.

It appears that the kitchen cabinets are already painted white… which is too stark with the terra cotta colored walls.

Terra Cotta Colored Kitchen Walls

He is planning to paint them… and I am torn on which color I would advise him to choose.

Black would be very dramatic and give them an updated look but might give the kitchen a closed in feeling.

I would really like to see them in a faux wood grain that is very similar to the dining room furniture.

Oh… and the ceiling fixture in the kitchen, would look much cleaner and blend into the ceiling if it was painted white.

In the pictures the counters look like a pale sage green. I wonder if that is a picture tinting problem or if they are really that color. I wouldn't have thought that this color would look so nice with the burnt orange on the walls… although green and orange work great together.

 Color Wash Terra Cotta Walls

I probably would have suggested something paler for the walls… but, this really works!

The wood furniture and window ledge all blend into a soothing color combination.

How about using a light beige / orange / brown color with a hint of mustard – but very light? It would go nicely with terra cotta, white, and the black hardware.
