Samples of Underwater and Sky Murals - Pictures - Photographs By Request

Debra Conrad at DesignTalk.comDebra, please tell me how to paint underwater and cloudy sky murals for my children's rooms.

I get these requests often… and I am determined to create a video showing all the detailed techniques I use. Of course… it's not happenin' yet.

So I am putting up a few pictures of some underwater murals I have painted for clients and a few tips.  Plus, one reader also wanted a picture of a cloudy sky. I have included a sky photo, but I didn't include one with cartoon clouds.  Ahhh, maybe I'll get more pictures up soon.

Here they are:

Underwater Mural Seahorse

Mural Sky with Clouds

So…. can you see that the blue in the underwater mural and the blue used for the sky mural is the same blue? I just added more of the deep blue overglaze to the underwater scene.

The clouds in the sky mural are painted with white, gray and sunset colors.

Clouds must float across the sky in the same direction, of the viewer could become disoriented.

The two bottom underwater pictures are cartoon critters painted at a daycare.

The other underwater pictures are from bathrooms and little boys rooms.  Instead of sharks you could paint mermaids for a girls room.

I think it’s a good effort on your part, that you are showing some techniques/pictures - but it could be even more effective if they could be larger and show more detail - maybe a full page size would be even better.
Thanks for listening.

I really need help! This is about a bar sink. It is brass and has a coating of a clear procter(maybe polyurathene) I would like paint a patina onit .I know you are a busy person, but if you have an answer, I would appreciate it so much.

Ruth… I also purchased a faucet and sink that was coated. I didn’t want to use any chemicals as I didn’t know the effect and paint will chip off… so I used a fine grit sanding block and lightly went over all areas. This took the sheen off and after time it is beginning to age with a green patina. The block is a spongy block with sandpaper like material on the outside available at the big box hardware stores.

I hope this helps. Debra THAT Painter Lady
