How To Create Bronze Texture Walls From Fauxtastic Dreamscapes

by THAT Painter Lady

bronze-faux-finishP J has shared yet another spectacular finish!

This time it’s all about using the popular Bronze finish on walls and doors.

“I Just finished a foyer and enclosed some photo’s for you.

It is soooo true, you can’t have a great finish with out the proper prep work, Prep is always key.

I won’t guarantee a job if I don’t do the prep.

These photo’s are of a Marco Island Fl. Condo.

The doors and wood work are Bronze paint and the flat walls were textured with plaster.

Then the walls were painted with the same bronze paint that was wiped over with a flat damp sponge to remove color from the surface leaving the concave areas with a deeper darker hue.

The result is a wall that shimmers as light bounces off of it.

Awesome! To think of the troubles I have had with metallics – and you come up with this. Well done, it deserves a 12/10.

Hi PJ. Very very nice. The walls look like they are professionally done or a decorative wall board that a person can put up. Great effects and a great job. Yeppers those that have not yet learned the hard way about prep work never forget it a second time right!!

Would love more specific’s, was the texture hand troweled on? was a primer used? when was the bronze paint wiped with a damp sponge, when the paint was still wet? was a woolie used or what? was a glaze used with the paint? was a base coat used? However it was done , it sure is beautiful! Thanks, mary

The finish is definitely beautiful. Here is a link on how to achieve the plaster glaze finish – http://www.thatpainterlady.com/plaster-faux-finish-with-joint-compound/

Happy Painting!

Nice job. Metallics are not easy to work with. I’ve seen walls where in the light, you can see the metallic and it looks beautiful, yet where there is no light, you just see a solid wall. I find that adding a tiny bit of acrylic in a darker shade than the base coat mixed with the metallic gives me the lights and darks even when there is no light. On this page of my site (http://muralsandfauxpainting.com/texture-paint.html, you can see a picture I have of a wall I did in a hotel. The base is done with tissue paper painted off white and then I added the metallic on top.
