Could you get an aged look on walls with tissue paper? We have already discussed the use of just paint to get a faux aged wallpaper look… but what about using real paper?
This technique calls for a new base coat on the walls. See part 2 of this series for Paint Color Choices.
While the paint is wet, you are going to press tissue into the paint. This will leave large squares of texture on your walls. Hard to strip off when your tired of the faux paint technique, but worth it if your going to love the look!
Usually this technique is done with torn paper or crumpled paper, but I recommend neither. This will give the walls a smoother texture so it more closely resembles real wallpaper.
The big blocks of paper will have an edge that will catch all the faux glaze painting that will go over the top. For this technique make sure you read this entire series about faux aged wallpaper.
You would use exactly the same technique but you are now adding tissue paper to the base coat layer.

The process of applying tissue paper on walls… is usually called tissue papered walls. But to give it a more dramatic name… Tissue Paper Fresco Technique.
