I have a pair of French doors at one end of the bedroom. I would like an idea to haze the glass for privacy, but also something that I can get off the glass or change without too much difficulty.
Do you have any suggestions for me? I have mushroom coloured roman blinds on the other three windows in the room. If possible I would like to end up with a finish similar to the color and pattern in the roman shades.
Thanks Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
When I first started reading your letter, I was automatically going to suggest an application of removable window frosting.
Then I got to the part where you wanted to have a finish that resembled the color and patter of a roman shade.
I am not sure how this would be accomplished. Are the French doors broken up into lots of little panes or is it one large pane of glass?

Hi Debra
Thanks for responding.
The French doors each have one solid pane of glass. I want privacy but don't really want to loose all of the light effect.
I have experimented a bit with them.
I made a watered down mixture of raw sienna and burnt umber and painted it on with a brush. The color seemed to be a good match but the paint ended up too solid and just looked as if the window pane was actually a painted part of the door.
I then rolled it on with a sponge roller and got a little better look, but am still not satisfied.
I have a lace door panel the same colour as the roman blinds which I will put on the window after it is painted.
I am now thinking that the removable frosting might be the best way to go.
Would you mind telling me what brand this is? Is it fairly easy to buy at Michaels or other craft supply store. I would also be open to your suggestions. Thanks Jennifer

24 in x 6.5 ft. Frosted White Privacy Window Film
Hi,
Home Depot sells a product that comes on a roll. It is pretty easy to apply…follow the instructions carefully.
It only comes in a clear (Not white) coloration. But it will make the windows look frosted and it just peels off. Not like sticky shelf liner material.
I doesn't require glue, it uses static cling to bond. I have used it with great results. Let's in all the light, but not the view.
Because this product does not come in lengths long enough to cover your doors in one sheet, you will have to get creative. I think cutting to into equal lengths and then applying it with small stripes of clear showing between the product would be very pretty.
Hope this is helpful,
Debra

OH WOW!!!!
I went to the home depot link and I absolutely love this stuff
It is EXACTELY what I was looking for.
Totally different from my original idea.I loved you idea of leaving tiny gaps between pattern to create effect.
Thank-you so much for your time and effort. Best Wishes Jennifer
