Hi Debra,
Question about the Leather Look on Walls. My office is Benjamin Moore Roseate (2078-10). I want to do a finish over without having to paint the walls an off-white first.
If I do the leather look, should I use a burnt umber tint in my glaze?
And what kind of brush technique should I use. I’ve done finishes before but never over a dark color.
Thanks,
Marianne

Hi Marianne, A few questions….
The color you have on your walls is a too light for a faux leather look. Do you plan to paint?
Are your walls textured or smooth?
I promise to help figure this out.

Hi Debra,
Thank you for getting back to me.
I really want to keep the color since I have curtains on the windows with the same color in them, and its not going to be fun to repaint red walls. If the faux leather look is not a good idea for that color what other finish do you recommend with this color as the base.
Also, the walls are smooth.
Thanks, Marianne

Hi Marianne,
Okay… so the faux leather look will not work on your lighter color
paint and it is much harder to get a faux leather look on smooth walls.
Here is the good news, you can create a frosted look on your walls that
will keep the same color in your room, so it will match curtains.
Read these articles to get a good idea of how to accomplish this.

Also you may need to purchase a Woolie pad to get consistent results:

I hope this is helpful… let me know.
