How Do I Change The Color Of Paint? Mint Green To Sage Green

by THAT Painter Lady

Change Mint Green to Sage Color I recently painted my kitchen what I thought was a light sage/olive green.  What I ended up with was a mint/sea foam green right out of the 50′s.  I have a full gallon leftover.  How would I change the color to look more sage/olive and less mint/sea foam?   Thank you.

Hi…

Ohhh… 50′s mint green. Someone is going to be so jealous. Their is defiantly a resurgence in 50′s style decorating.

But, we want to fix the color that you are not so happy with. Let’s look at what mint or sea foam green is made of and what you could add to change the color.

First… The color green is made from a mixture of blue and yellow.Sea Foam Green is based in white and the green is more blue than yellow.

A Sage Green or Olive Green is has more yellow in it.

So… you need to add yellow.

But… here is the key to changing colors. Take the can you have that you want to change to the paint store. Pick another color from a paint chip that is what you want. The paint guys should be able to look up both colors and add what is needed to the can to create a color that is very close to the olive or sage green that you desire.
