UPDATE: Illuminations Candles Is Closed.
Shops and Website are a thing of the past. I’ve still got some great Holiday Decorating Ideas with candles.
Let’s see how close I can come to the Holiday Candle Decorating Ideas I got from my trip to the Illuminations Candles store!
Okay… you have just discovered one of my vices…. I love candles. I mean – I’m a candle nut.
Candles are in every room of my home.
Lot’s of them… even the bathroom has room for more candles.
My back yard patio is decked out with candles. And this year I even found a huge candle holder for the front porch.
So I was really excited when my friend piped up one day with a great idea. “Let’s go see the Illuminations Candles store”. Since I had never actually been to an Illuminations store I was pretty excited about the idea… It is a candle store after all.
Off we went. It’s a real hike from her house to the Illuminations store… so I thought “this must be special for her to drive me all the way over to Scottsdale. (We call it “Snottsdale because it’s a very, very pricey town).
Arriving at this “fancy pants” mall was a bit intimidating. I could see that all the ladies were dressed in killer outfits… and I’m in my normal every day jeans and sweater garb. Hmmm.
Inside the mall… tucked away in a tiny corner is the Illuminations store. It’s as small – almost closet sized – store filled floor to ceiling with all things candles. That’s it. Just candles. I’m in heaven already.
I’m so glad she took me to this little gem of a store before the holiday shopping rush begins. I can’t imagine shopping in this store with a crowd of more than 5 people. And… you just know that a stroller or 2 will be wedged in every isle… making it impossible to maneuver.
But… Houston… we have a solution. Illuminations is really an online store. Every single bit of their inventory is available online. Now that’s a candle store!
UPDATE REMINDER! Illuminations Is Now Closed! I am sharing some great decorating ideas for the Holiday Season right here. I have searched (and found) some “replacement” candle decorating ideas.

Everywhere I looked I saw pewter looking (or brushed nickle) looking statuary inserted into the tall glass cylinders.
We all have these glass cylinders for floating candles.
Cylinder Floating Candle Vase Set of 3
I usually fill mine with cranberries and float a green or white candle on top.
But… this is something a bit unique.
Instead of submerging fruit or vegetables, Illuminations has “holiday decor” submerged. A cast reindeer or a cute little snowman.

And the white candles looked like they were trimmed with lace. (look for the “unscented category).

I had to get the girl at the counter to dim the lights so I could really see if these candles “projected” snowflakes on the walls.
They do! But of course… I couldn’t get a great picture for you. Just trust me… these are something really special.
And if your into decorating an entire room in the “Snow Flake” theme… they have these tea-light holders that compliment the entire scheme with fantastic results! (See the picture up at the top for an example).
Hanging Candle Chandy – This picture doesn’t do it justice. The entire grouping was based on copper – glass and candles. But the chandy was what caught my eye.
The little teardrop glass holders around the outside picked up the light and sparkled. Plus the added tiny candle holders hung from ribbon was a cute touch.
I can visualize the center container filled with tiny multi colored holiday ornaments and a bit of garland draped to match the iron swags.
Of course you all know… I loves my iron work!
Illuminations always has something on sale over at the website. Check it out. (hint – those lace floating candles are 50% off right now… can you think of a more perfect Wedding Gift???)

I love the snowflake room idea. it immediately gave me the image of the scene in the movie ‘Elf’ Where James Kahn comes home to find that his elf son, Will Farrel, has hung a zillion paper cut snowflakes from the ceiling.
Great theme Snowflakes!! beautiful…I’ll bet shimmering reflections on the wall are beautiful!
Thanks for the great tip on online Illuminations!!
Happy Holidays!
cool snowflake tea lights. How do you hang them…..
The hanging candle snowflakes are absolutely gorgeous! I can imagine how beautiful they look from outside. The floating snowflake candles would really make my daughter’s upcoming wedding! Thank you for Illuminations info.
