I have a burgundy kitchen and it has a bad paint job, thick in some areas, orange peely looking, etc., I was going to do frottage with saran wrap/garbage bags to kind of conceal it, I do like the color just not the paint job, what color do you suggest I do over it? I've heard a dark color would be better and mix 1/2 with glaze (clear glaze?) – the accent colors in the room are off-white/white/mustard yellow. I can send you a picture. Lori
Ewwww, I hate dealing with bad paint jobs almost as mush as I hate peeling wallpaper… and you all know how I loath wallpaper.
Remember if you go over anything red with a paint that has a white base (you will see it say "white base" on the can) you will end up with pink. So if your going to go over the burgundy color it would have to be with a brown color and probably end up with a nice faux leather finish… not exactly a kitchen faux finish however.
Your accent colors are white, off white and mustard yellow. Sounds pretty. Since you like the burgundy color, you may want to try the tissue paper technique on your walls. It's easy and if the tissue is thin… it should give a nice haze over the burgundy with changing it to pink. It would texture the walls so all the paint problems would disappear.
