And...I rarely remove wallpaper...I just paint over it.  Lol!  ;) But yeah, that top layer of the drywall is there to &quot;protect&quot; it and &quot;seal&quot; it.  Without it you&#039;ll have trouble.

		<description>If the top layer of drywall is removed, you must, Must, &lt;strong&gt;MUST&lt;/strong&gt; seal the wall with an oil based sealer. Putting joint compound on the paper under the face paper of drywall will bubble.  Much of my work is wallpaper removal, if you pull of the first piece and it removes the top layer of drywall STOP.  Don&#039;t keep pulling it off, your doing something wrong.
